Manuscript address with an illuminated heading and border on a folio sheet of paper, in a contemporary binding of red goatskin [370 x 285 mm]. The outer covers tooled in gilt with a wide border of fillets, two thin rolls and a wide floral roll, the corners built up with small floral tools and an oval, the front cover lettered at the centre "Address to John E. Walker, Esqr. September 30th 1891", the rear cover blocked with a large arabesque centre. The turn-ins and matching inside joints tooled with a wide gilt roll, the front doublure lined with ivory watered silk, the address pasted inside the rear cover. (Two small abrasions to the upper turn-ins, a few minor scratches and marks).

A beautifully presented address, commencing: "Several friends connected with the Church and Congregation at Hopton, and especially the older teachers connected with the Sunday School, have considered it their duty to shew their appreciation of the valuable services which you have rendered as a member of the Church". Mirfield and Hopton are in West Yorkshire.
