[222 x 137 x 30 mm]. xxviii, 243 pp. Contemporary binding by Zaehnsdorf (signed in gilt on front turn-in and with blind oval stamp at rear) of green goatskin, the covers tooled in gilt, the front with the title lettered at the centre surrounded by rococo ornaments, roses and long leafy stems on a dotted background, within a single fillet border; the rear cover with the decoration confined to the lower and right hand sides. The spine divided into six panels with gilt compartments, lettered in the second and fourth and at the foot, the others with matching ornaments, leafy stems and dots, the edges of the boards tooled with a gilt double fillet, the turn-ins with a gilt fillet and dog-tooth roll, ornaments, leafy stems and dots, orange silk endleaves, top edge gilt, the others uncut. Contained within a later folding chemise and full red-brown goatskin slipcase, the spine lettered in gilt.

This is no.38 of 260 copies of the large paper edition. It is a fine copy, in a fine Zaehnsdorf binding. With the bookplate of Vincent Lloyd-Russell pasted upside-down on the rear endleaf.
