Raymond Myerscough-Walker (1908-1984) was born at Knaresborough in Yorkshire and studied at Leeds School of Art and the Architectural Association in London. He won the Tite Prize in 1931, and the Prix de Rome, which he refused to take up. Besides his work as an architectural draughtsman, or "perspectivist", he was a talented architect, stage designer and sculptor, a prolific writer and an eccentric.
