George Ryley Scott (1886 - c.1980) was a prolific author who wrote widely around the topic of sex and, entirely unrelatedly (we hope), poultry. This book takes an extensive look at phallicism throughout the ages and Ryley Scott impresses it's historic importance to the reader: "I doubt if it is any exaggeration to say that without it's phallic fundament, which was inseparably connected with any anthropomorphic cosmogony, no faith would ever have developed into a living virile religion."
