A Glossary of Terms Used in Grecian, Roman, Italian and Gothic Architecture. PARKER (John Henry).
Two volumes bound into three.
Illustrated with 267 full page engravings which includes two frontispieces and twelve plates in colour, volumes one is illustrated throughout with numerous woodcuts.
Fifth edition, enlarged. 8vo. [238 x 155 x 113 mm]. Uniformly bound by Bone & Son in brown textured cloth, the boards blocked in blind, the spines blocked in blind and lettered in gilt, light yellow endpapers. (Headcaps and corners slightly bumped, spines lightly faded).
Oxford: John Henry Parker, 1850
The odd light foxing, otherwise internally clean, overall a very good set. Binding sticker of Bone & Son of Fleet Street located on the rear paste down of volume two, bookplate of Elizabeth Attwood located on front paste down of volume one. Loosely inserted letter from Stephen Clark of the Clark shoes family to a Miss A. R. Ross Stevenson, asking if she could re-insert some loose pages, this has been skilfully done as there is little evidence of the restoration.
Volume one is predominantly text whilst volume two contains the plates and and a descriptive index of the illustrations. Although there are 264 numbered plates, plate 100 is numbered twice, thus making the total 265 not including the frontispieces.
