Neat ink inscriptions to the front fly leaves of both volume 1 and volume 2. Some light foxing, most noticeably in volume 1, sewing is weak in some places. Volume 1 with errata: 'Vol. ii. near the top of pages 317, 318, 320, 322, 324, for Anguillidae, read Muraenida' which have been corrected in pencil throughout volume. The portrait frontispiece to the second supplement is a little off-set. A very good copy of Yarrell's wonderfully illustrated ichthyological volumes.
First published serially from 1835 to 1836, Yarrell's History of British Fishes was very favourably reviewed and reprinted within a year.
