Limited to 300 copies. 8vo. [251 x 165 x 352 mm]. Uniformly bound by Zaehnsdorf in half tan morocco with marbled boards, the boards with single line gilt rolls, the spine divided into six panels by raised bands, lettered in gilt in the second and third, the rest with a central device tooled in gilt, dated in gilt at the foot, matching marbled endpapers and marbled edges. [Extremities lightly bumped, slight toning to spine].

The occasional light foxing, otherwise clean, overall a very good set indeed.

Bookplate of Sidney Edward Bouverie Bouverie-Pusey located on the front paste down of each volume. Sidney Edward Bouverie Bouverie-Pusey (1839-1911), (often referred to as S.E.B.), was a British author and only son of Philip Bouverie-Pusey, a Tory MP for Berkshire and the elder brother of the English cleric Edward Bouverie Pusey. His mother was Lady Emily Herbert, the daughter of Henry Herbert, 2nd Earl of Carnarvon. S.E.B. went on to write: 'The Past History of Ireland' and 'Permanence and Evolution: An Inquiry into the Supposed Mutability of Animal Types'.

Included is a letter dated October 10th 1855, from one E. Edwards, Bookseller, Pride Hill, Shrewsbury to one Mrs Benson.
