Large folding engraved plate of "A Ground Plan of the Antient Roman Bath lately discovered in the City of Bath Somersetshire, with a Section of the Eastern Wing".

First Edition. Two volumes bound as one. 8vo. [204 x 130 x 48 mm]. [12]ff, xxv, [i], 336, 184 pp. Bound in contemporary polished calf, the covers with a gilt double fillet border. The spine divided into six panels with raised bands flanked by gilt double fillets, lettered in the second on a red goatskin label, plain endleaves, red sprinkled edges. (Joins cracked but firm, headcaps chipped, spine a little rubbed).

The second volume was not issued with a title-page but has a separate leaf lettered "Volume the Second". The binder is instructed "to cut off the leaf which has Volume the Second in the Centre, and place it at the End of vol.1". This has not been done and it remains in situ before p.1 in vol.1. A very good copy. With the armorial bookplate of the Right Hon. Charles Bathurst of Lydney Park.
