Azrael & Other Poems. WARNER (Sylvia Townsend).

£125.00

First edition. 4to. [293 x 197 x 3 mm]. [20] pp. Original sewn brown wrappers, front cover lettered in black. (Near fine).

Newbury: Libanus Press, 1978

Internally very clean. Limited to 200 copies, one half printed on T. H. Saunders paper, the other on Velin Arches. This copy is no. 35 on Velin Arches.

Loosely inserted is the publisher's bookmark prospectus attached to which is a typed letter dated 29th January 1979 from Stephen Clark to Libanus Press asking for a copy of Azrael. Stephen Clark of the Clarks shoe family was a close friend of Sylvia Townsend Warner and her partner Valentine Ackland. Warner died in May of 1978, shortly before the publication, which explains why Clark had to receive a copy from the publisher rather than Warner herself.
