One of 85 large paper copies, on large and thick paper, issued after the sale and priced at $5 (ordinary copies cost 50 cents). Damp-stain to first and last few leaves and a few spots. A good copy, with the original wrappers bound in (tear repaired to front wrapper). The auction took place in Boston 20th-22nd December 1864 and realised $17,522 against a cost of $7398.

"The owner has had a special taste for the elegant publications of the late William Pickering (the well-known London publisher); and a larger collection will be found upon the Catalogue than can probably be met with in any other library, exceeding, as it does, that formed by Mr. Eyton by nearly one hundred volumes" - Preface. This volume was bought from Robin de Beaumont by the pre-eminent Pickering collector, John Porter, in 1978. John identified 220 Pickering imprints in the 818 lots offered for sale.
