Court and City Register.

£250.00

Court and City Register; or, Gentleman's Complete Annual Calendar, For the Year 1777; Containing, I. New and Correct Lists of both Houses of Parliament. II. The Court Register. III. Lists of the Army, Navy, Universities, Public Offices, Hospitals, &c. With many Improvements, and the Addition of some new Lists.

12mo. [142 x 84 x 26 mm]. [2]ff, 272pp. Bound in contemporary sheepskin, the spine divided into five panels by raised bands flanked with a gilt fillet, the edges of the boards tooled with a gilt hatched roll, plain endleaves and edges. (Worn with small loss at head and foot of spine).
London: printed for J. Joliffe, in St. James's-street; J. Walther, at Charing-Cross [and 24 others], [1777]

The printer had problems with signature K, numbering the pages 105, 110, 107, 108, 109, 106, 115, 112, 113, 113, 111, and 116, p.107 was printed upside down. Small loss from fore-margin of pp.7-8 and pp.221-2, probably from the time of printing, affecting a few letters. A good copy, with ink initials "G.L." on front endleaf.

ESTC locates three copies of this edition, at Queens' College Cambridge, National Archives and Newberry. There is also a copy in the British Library, which does not have the same problems in signature K. There was another issue with the heading "A new edition, corrected to the 20th January", with four locations, at the House of Lords, National Archives, Huntington and private collection N. America.
