Institutionum Metaphysicarum Lib.II. Opus Posthumum. Editio ultima, longe emendatior.
Woodcut device on the title.
12mo. [119 x 68 x 21 mm]. [6]ff, 370, [2] pp. Near contemporary English binding of mottled calf, the spine divided into five panels with raised bands and gilt compartments, lettered in the second on a red goatskin label, the others tooled with a repeated floral roll, plain endleaves and edges. (Minor insect activity on the covers).
Lugduni Batavorum [i.e Leiden]: [typis Philippi De Croy] apud Davidem Lopez De Haro, 1651.
Closely cut touching the headline on the last few leaves, A very good copy. Library Hub locates only a single copy, at Oxford.
With pencil shelf-marks, bookplate of Robert J. Hayhurst and his note that this volume came from the Rolle Library. It is very much in keeping with the books bound for the Rolle family of Bicton Park in Devon. They were probably bound by a local or itinerant binder, who could be quite inventive in his lettering.
