With marbled endleaves and top edges gilt, the others untrimmed. Housed in a green cloth drop-over box with a red leather label lettered in gilt. (Some wear to the joints).

Tennant (1823-1906) was a Scottish businessman, politician and industrialist who was a prominent figure in late Victorian and early Edwardian society. He purchased a large estate in 1852 - 'The Glen', and commissioned Scottish architect David Bryce to build a Scottish Baronial style house there.
With a later booklabel of 'John Porter', the great Pickering collector, to the front pastedown and his library label to the rear pastedown.
