Woodcut vignettes on the title-pages and throughout the text.

Two volumes. 12mo. [165 x 102 x 50 mm]. [iii], vi-xvi, 392 pp; [1]f, 360pp. Bound in near contemporary calf, the covers with a blind border of triple fillet and floral roll. Smooth spines divided into five panels by gilt solid and broken fillets, lettered and numbered in the second and fourth panels on black labels, the others with a large centre tool, the edges of the boards tooled with a gilt roll, plain endleaves, lightly sprinkled edges. (Joints rubbed and slightly cracked).
London: printed at the Chiswick Press by C. Whittingham, for J. Carpenter, J. Booker, Sharpe and Hailes, and Gale, Curtis and Fenner, 1812.

Bound without the half-titles. A few minor spots but a fine copy of this delightful early Whittingham edition, printed a year after the founding of the Chiswick Press. Library Hub locates three copies, at Cambridge, Senate House and University of York. Whittingham produced another edition in 1822.
