Sixe Idillia. That is, Sixe Small, or Petty Poems, or Aegloguves, Chosen out of the right famous Sicilian Poet Theocritus, and translated into English Verse.

Printed on handmade paper, this is a copy of an Elizabethan translation from 1588 of six of the Idylls by Theocritus, and was reprinted from a unique copy in the Bodleian. It is notable for being a book of firsts for the Daniel Press. It was the first book they printed with an illustration in; the first book printed on a decent press; the first book in a quarto format; the first to feature small artistic printer's ornaments; the first book to be priced; and the first book for which they issued a prospectus. A good copy of this important work by the Daniel Press.
