[223 x 137 x 52 mm]. xxiv, 326; viii, 353 pp. Bound in contemporary marbled calf, the boards with a double fillet border in blind, rebacked to match, lettered in gilt on new dark red morocco labels, the spines divided into six panels by small raised bands with double gilt fillet, the labels in the second and third panels, dated in gilt at the foot, plain endleaves. (Neatly rebacked, spine rubbed, corners lightly bumped, binding firm).

Bound without half titles, the odd very light foxing, endleaves lightly soiled, otherwise internally clean, overall in very good condition. Bookplate of Starling Benson to front paste down, a slip bearing a note in Crabbe's handwriting has been pasted to the front flyleaf of volume one, a very faint inscription located on both title pages: 'Sophia Baillie given to Sophia Milligan, June 1834'.
