Three volumes. First edition in book form (volumes I and III are first impressions, volume II is a second impression). 8vo. [187 x 130 x 80 mm]. Bound in contemporary red straight-grained half morocco, marbled covers, spine divided into six compartments, lettered in gilt in the second and fourth, the rest with a central device in gilt, plain endpapers, red sprinkled edges. (Slightly bumped at the headcaps and corners, otherwise bindings are firm and in very good condition).

London: James R. Osgood, McIlvane & Co., 1891

Discolouration to the endpapers and the odd foxing otherwise internally very clean. Neat early ownership inscription is present on the front paste down of all three volumes.

The first impression were printed in a run of 1000 copies and the revised second impressions in a run of 500 in 1892. the endpapers and the odd foxing otherwise internally very clean. Neat early ownership inscription is present on the front paste down of all three volumes.
