[220 x 144 x 280 mm]. xx, 266, [1] pp. Bound in publisher's purple cloth, neatly rebacked, preserving the original spine, the front cover and spine elaborately decorated in gilt, the rear cover with a blind tooled border and central block, plain endpapers, all edges gilt. (Spine and corners bumped and a little worn, covers faded with some staining, front cover creased).

Light foxing throughout, some browning to the edges, with the occasional mark and annotation. Previous owner's pencil inscription to the half-title page. Two pages of press reviews at the rear.
