A Tale of Home.

With eight full page coloured illustrations including the frontispiece with tissue guard and a further nine black and white illustrations within the text by Charles E. Brock.

First Brock edition. 8vo. [182 x 121 x 34 mm]. Bound in original vellum, spine and front cover lettered in gilt, front cover elaborately decorated in gilt, top edge gilt, fore and bottom edge untrimmed, plain endpapers, red silk bookmarker. (A few marks to the very edge of the front board, otherwise in near fine condition).

London: J. M. Dent & Co.

New York: E. P. Dutton & Co. 1905

Slight discolouration to the endpapers and some foxing to the frontispiece's tissue guard, otherwise internally very clean.

Charles Brock (1870-1938) was a widely published painter and book illustrator. He received his first commission at the age of twenty in 1890 and gradually rose to prominence. He illustrated the books of many renowned authors such as Swift, Thackeray, Austen, Eliot and of course Dickens.
