The Gentlemen's Society at Spalding: its Origin and Progress.

8vo. [220 x 141 x 12 mm]. [3]ff, 61, [3] pp. Bound in contemporary hard-grained red goatskin, the covers tooled in gilt with a triple fillet border with darts in the corners and an Elizabethan style oval centre block. The spine divided into five panels with gilt tooled raised bands, lettered in the second, the others with gilt compartments, the edges of the boards and turn-ins tooled with gilt rolls, marbled endleaves, gilt edges. (Small stain at head of front cover).
London: [printed by C. Whittingham for] William Pickering, 1851
Printed in an edition of 250 copies. J.P. states this to be a presentation binding by Hayday. It is not signed but he has seen other identical copies with Hayday's pallet. There is some light browning at the beginning and end but it is a very good copy. With the signature of Lewis Driver and his note "Purchased at sale of J.H. Bing Esq. Nov. 1922". Bought from H. S. Linfield in 1972.
