Printed in an edition of 100 copies and entered in the Whittingham ledgers on 19th April 1867. Library Hub locates only one copy of this first edition, at the British Library (incorrectly dated [1868]) and two copies of the 1888 edition, at the BL and Cambridge. This copy has the bookplate of Charles John Whittingham, son of the printer Charles Whittingham.

With the bookplate of Sir Anthony Richard Wagner (1908-1995), Garter Principal King of Arms. Wagner was the 118th member of the Cocked Hat Club, being elected in 1946 and appointed Secretary in 1947.

Both volumes are in excellent condition and come from the library of John Porter.

The Cocked Hat Club was a club of the Society of Antiquaries of London founded in 1852. They met at the Albion, Drury Lane until 1885, and thereafter at the Holborn Restaurant.
