Limited Edition of 1250 numbered copies, of which this is no. 284. 8vo. [234 x 193 x 50 mm]. xxv, [1] 446 [2] pp. Bound in publisher's quarter black goatskin with printed cloth sides, spine lettered in gilt, with brown endpapers and a brown ribbon, top edge gilt. Housed in publisher's attractive brown cloth drop-over box, the spine lettered in gilt and an illustration pasted onto the front with a gilt fillet border. (Near fine with very minor rubbing to the board edges, some trivial marks to the drop-over box).

Internally very clean, with a pencil inscription of a previous owner. The first edition with the author's original illustrations. Printed on veltique ivory paper.
