One of the preliminary leaves is inscribed by the by the author's great grandson: "To 10 copies only of this work a set of the 4 postage stamps issued by Great Britain, to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the foundation of the Union, have been affixed, on the first day of this sale, by the Author's great-grandson Henry R. P. Clive. London, October 10th 1949. Copy no. 6". Four of the commemorative stamps remain affixed.
