Inscribed in ink on front free endleaf – 'To Robert D from Robert G. 17.2.38'. There is also a loosely inserted autograph letter from Gibbings to "Dear Dewar" dated 16.2.38, mentioning "a copy of that Powys book" and offering the "enclosed trifle which I hope may find a half inch on your shelves". He ends: "Look kindly on your illiterate friend. R.G."
